Volunteers are critical to BOHO’s operations. BOHO employs the homeless to implement the Emergency Warming Center program, but does not employ paid professional or executive staff for administrative and fundraising tasks.
BOHO relies upon the volunteer efforts of its board, volunteers from congregations and from the community at large providing an estimated 2,400 hours of volunteer service.
Light evening meals and morning take-away breakfasts are provided by congregations, by the generosity of many local restaurants, cafes, and grocery stores, by the University of Colorado food services and several local food recovery and distribution charities. BOHO does not use its funds to provide food for the homeless at Emergency Warming Centers, but evening and morning meals are provided by the in-kind generosity of the community.
